Julia told the class: " I went with Mommy, Dada, Jack and Emma to the mall to get a picture with Santa. My favorite part was Daddy coming with me!"
Robert told the class: "I took a picture with Santa. I told him I want a green car watch. I went with Mommy and Daddy. We went on rides after. It was fun!"
Our new study is "winter". We will provide opportunities for the children to learn:
At the end of the each AM/PM Pre-K class, we gather in the Circle Time area and discuss what we enjoyed about the day. As you will notice on the daily recall sheets, each child will get a turn to be the "special helper" for the the day. This child will draw anything they desire on a post-it along with a quote for our on-going calendar. On September 16, Hanna was the special helper and she enjoyed leading the line of children outside to play :) Don't forget to ask your child what they enjoyed most about their day at school. Use the daily recall sheet as a guide!
Today we read the story, "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn and discussed feeling sad. Please refer to the "feelings chart" in your child's backpack to talk about the various types of feelings. We had a lot of fun acting out feelings today and more importantly, discussing what to do when certain feelings arise!
Your child may come home talking about a story we read yesterday called "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?". It is a wonderful way to reinforce good behavior at home or school. I strongly recommend picking up a copy to read with your child :) "Bucket fillers" are those who help without being asked, give hugs and compliments, and generally spread their love and good feelings to others. "Bucket dippers" rob us of happy feelings by refusing to help with a task or by saying or doing cruel things. |
